Massive Comcast Internet Outage Across the Country

If you have Comcast Xfinity High Speed Internet in San Francisco or Comcast Xfinity High Speed Internet in New York you probably had some problems yesterday. Comcast Internet Customers in Illinois also reported problems with their Internet connection.
It seems Internet service provider Comcast Xfinity customers in zip codes across the country had major problems connecting to the Internet on Monday, November 6th. Thousands of Comcast customers from Florida and New York to Washington state and California were reporting trouble connecting. Comcast was quick to blame it on Level 3 Communications who provides the back haul network. Level 3, who just recently go the OK to merge with CenturyLink blamed it on a configuration error.
Other areas reporting problems were:
  • Minnesota, 
  • Ohio
  • Tennessee
  • Texas
  • Alabama
  • Colorado
  • Georgia
  • and others
Level 3 tweeted that they had it back up and running in about an hour and a half for the affected Comcast Xfinity Internet customers. The issues began about 1:00 PM Eastern time and were reported to be sorted out by 3:30. Comcast has more than 100 million customers and is the number one Internet Service Provider in the country. Comcast also teeted that they were working on the problem.
The website was deluged with queries and said 66% of them were about Internet service.
